From Slippery Tile to a Safe, Beautiful Entryway
A front entry should make a great first impression—but more importantly, it should be safe.
This homeowner reached out after experiencing something no one wants: a slip and fall on their exterior tile entryway. While ceramic and porcelain tile can look beautiful indoors, they’re often a poor choice for outdoor entrances. Rain, morning dew, humidity, and even Florida’s frequent afternoon showers can turn smooth tile into a dangerous walking surface.
Instead of tearing out all of the existing tile, hauling it away, and pouring new concrete, we provided a solution that was faster, more cost-effective, and built to last.
A Custom Finish Designed for This Home
Every home is different, so we created a custom decorative flake blend specifically to complement the exterior color palette of this house. The finished coating brightened the entryway while blending naturally with the home’s architecture, making it look like it was always meant to be there.
The transformation didn’t just improve the appearance—it completely changed how the space functions.
Built for Safety and Florida Weather
For this installation, we used a multi-layer coating system designed for maximum adhesion, durability, and UV resistance.
Our process included:
✔️ Moisture-mitigating epoxy primer for exceptional bond strength
✔️ 100% full flake broadcast for durability and texture
✔️ Color-tinted polyaspartic coat for outstanding UV stability and color retention
✔️ Clear polyaspartic topcoat for long-term protection
✔️ Aluminum oxide and anti-skid additives for exceptional traction, even in wet conditions
The addition of aluminum oxide provides an aggressive, long-lasting slip-resistant surface without sacrificing the clean, decorative appearance of the entryway.
No Demolition Required
One of the biggest advantages of this project was that the homeowner didn’t have to remove the existing tile. By properly preparing the surface and using a professional-grade coating system, we were able to transform the outdated entryway into a seamless, modern finish while avoiding the expense and mess of demolition.
The result is a safer entrance, a fresh updated appearance, and a coating system built to withstand years of Florida sun, rain, and daily foot traffic.
Sometimes the best renovation isn’t starting over—it’s building something better on the foundation that’s already there.
